Acupressure can decrease heart rate and blood pressure in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) report investigators from Turkey. A randomised study was conducted with 60 individuals randomised to standard medical treatment, or standard treatment plus acupressure applied at Neiguan P-6, Shenmen HE-7, and Shanzhong REN-17, using a specially developed acupressure device, twice per day (minimum two and maximum four sessions). Individuals in the placebo group were attached to the acupressure device in addition to their standard medical treatment, but pressure was not applied. After each instance of acupressure administration, heart rate and systolic/diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group decreased significantly, whereas in the placebo group showed decrease in diastolic blood pressure only during the first treatment session.
