Irena Lenc

BSc (Hons) MBAcC, Traditional Acupuncturist and Therapeutic Massage Therapist

Stress, MSK pain and woman’s health

Irena trained at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, completing a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture and a course in Therapeutic Massage. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and is fully licensed and insured.

Irena went into studying Acupuncture from the patient’s couch after seeing the difference it can make and the immediate yet lasting effects Traditional Chinese Medicine had on her life.

Her personal journey to holistic health and lifestyle was related to chronic musculoskeletal pain, battling work-related stress and complex woman’s health issues. Consequently, these are the areas where Irena has first-hand experience deep understanding of patients’ needs. As a passionate advocate of natural health and its place in our modern life and healthcare, Irena loves to work with all issues that come into the clinic. Irena uses the TCM diagnosis framework to create a unique treatment for each client. Alongside Acupuncture and classic bodywork techniques, Irena often uses Gusha, Cupping or Moxibustion to facilitate the best results.

In modern terms, cupping creates a myofascial decompression effect. It is a great tool to ease highly tensed muscle and connective tissue areas. Gusha intensifies microcirculation in the tissues and generates a therapeutic anti-inflammatory effect. Moxibustion, used alongside Acupuncture, stimulates blood circulation and the body’s natural healing response and is indispensable in treating many women’s health-related issues.

Irena has a holistic approach to healing. She is particularly interested in lifestyle changes that restore the health process.

Seemingly minor adjustments to how we go about our day can result in outstanding results. Irena has spent years studying and testing them in real-life scenarios. She is happy to incorporate her knowledge into the treatment plan for those interested in accelerating treatment results.

Irena describes practising Acupuncture as one of the greatest joys of her life. She has a fun, busy life as a mum to a toddler boy outside the clinic. She enjoys getting out and about in the countryside with her family to run out some of the endless energy and connect with nature.
