An umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses evaluating the evidence of tai chi for chronic illness management shows that it can improve physical function and disease-specific outcomes among adults with diverse chronic conditions. The review, carried out by an international team, identified 45 meta-analyses of RCTs among adults living with 16 types of chronic illnesses. Statistically significant results were identified for 81 of the 142 outcomes (57.0%), of which 45 were supported by high or moderate quality evidence.
