Adding traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as an adjunctive treatment to conventional care has beneficial effects on stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).  Authors from the UK and China included 100 randomised controlled trials with 8291 participants in their systematic review.  Combining Chinese medicine treatment with conventional treatment improved forced expiratory volume (FEVI, a measure of lung capacity), symptom exacerbation rate, COPD assessment scores, TCM syndrome scores, effective rate, and six-minute walk test.  No serious adverse events were reported.  (The Effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as an adjunct Treatment on Stable COPD Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.  Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2021;2021:5550332.
